Sashiko mending is an ancient mending technique that originated in Japan. It is an artistic way of mending your clothing by fixing rips and tears, or reinforcing thin areas via small running stitches. They can either be practical and simple, like the example pictured here, where thin spots on these jeans are reinforced with a patch on the inside, with rows of stitching holding it in place, or more decorative, embroidery style coverups like some of the examples below. Either way, this style of mending gives your favorite pieces new life, and added beauty at the same time! Visible mending pricing varies based on the size of the mend and the designs selected. Please reach out with images of your item needing mending with a ruler in the photo to show the size of the repair, and thoughts about what you would like for design! Then I can get back to you with pricing. To give you a better idea, small mending jobs like the first two pictured below would be approximately $25-40.

These jeans had a hole located under the waistband. One flower was stitched to cover the hole, with a few more added to keep it company! Decorative stitching was also added on the front pockets.

These jeans were a secondhand purchase that after many years had worn thin throughout the back, with stretch waves forming in thin spots due to the stretch denim and frequent wearing. Basic tone on tone style classic Sashiko style mending was used here to give maximum strength to the worn areas.

WORK IN PROGRESS!
These jeans had holes located on the inner corners of the back pockets. A decorative vintage style ribbon was added to the hem, and the mending is being created in matching colors in a flowers and vines design. Check back to see the finished design!
